E. P. Henson E. P. Henson .aged resident of the Gowansville section of Green ville county, died at a local hos pital at an early hour Wednesday morning cf a gunshot wound which he suffered Tuesday morning. Henson, who was said to be between 75 and 80 years old, was brought to 2, Spartanburg hospital at 10:30 o’clock Tuesday morning and attending surgeons said he ap parently was shot about an hour curlier. The charge entered his abdomen and punctured the stomach and lung, according to hospital attaches who said it eippeared to have been inflicted with a shotgun. The shooting was said to have Occurred near Henson’s home be tween Landrum and Gowansville, in Greenville county, but Ideal of ficers last night had not been in formed of details of the affair. Mjr. Henson formerly made his home in the Saxon section. His two sons were disabled in the World War, friends said last night.—Spartanburg Herald. LUNCHEON PARTY Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Vanderhoef, Jr., are giving a luncheon on Thursday for Mr. H. B. Vander hoef of Greenwich, Conn., and Mr. Noah Sice of New York, who are on their ws|y to Mexico. Mr. Slee is the husband of Margaret Sanger, famous birth-control advocate. Burglars Enter Landrum Depot The Southern Railway depot at Landrum was broken early yes terday morning and two men sus pected of being implicated in. the break escaped in a waiting automo bile after exchanging a fusillade of shots with a Landrum officer, it was leagued here last night. Night Policeman Orr of the Landrum police, discovered the break about 1:30 o’clock yesterday morning while making his rounds He reported that he saw a man cdming out of the depot, and halt ed him. As he halted the man, the Lan drum officer said, another man shot at him with a pistol from around a corner of the depot build ing. Orr said he returned the fire. f:nd that fdur or five shots were ex changed between him and the ban dits. In the exchange of shots, both men fled and made their getaway in a V-8 model Ford automobile which had been left parked beside the depot. They sped away in the direction of Tryon, N. C. The Landrum officer called Ru ral Officer C. E. Carrut, about 2 a. m„ who came to the scene and made an investigation. Officer Carruth said the burglars had entered the depot by breaking a window glass on the front side and reaching through to remove nails by which the window was bolted.
