MARCH 3, 1879 Tryon People Are In jured in Bus Wreck JFour Try on people were injured in an auto-bus collision on Sun day evening shout 6:30 a few miles north of Hendersonville when an auto headed toward Asheville col lided with a truck that was in front of the bus headed toward Tryon. The Iocs! people injured coming home were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gaze, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Turner and Mr. Gaze’s brother, T. R. Gaze of Asheville who was coming here for a visit. Robert Settles, of Henderson ville, an occupant of the truck, was killed. Mr. Gaze stated that when the J bus collided with the truck, the seats were thrown upside down and the passengers sent hurling to the front and piled up. While injuries received by local people are not serious, they were very painful. The Associated Press reports that 105 people were killed in au tomobile accidents in the United States during the week-end. Churches to Observe \ Thanksgiving Service The Union Thanksgiving ser vice of Tryon churches will be held on Thursday morning at the Tryon Baptist church with the Rev. L. R. Akers, Jr., of the Methodist church preaching. The public is invited. The Christian Scientists will hold their annual Thanksgiving service on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock at Lanier Library. $30 Awarded to Tick et Holders Saturday Another large crowd turned out for the second drawings of the merchants trade event prizes on Saturday afternoon at 4:30. Also for the second time the winners were found on the ground when the tickets were first drawn, and no second trials were necessary. The time of drawing took less than ten minutes. The first prize of $20 in cash went to1 Mrs. Ola Campbell of upper Greenville county. The sec ond prize of $10 in cash went to Mrs. Lespie Barnette. All tickets that failed to bring a winner are being saved each week for the final drawings on Christmas Eve when the grand prizes of $75, 25, and $15 will be given the lucky ticket holders. So save every one of your tickets. The tickets that fail to win in weekly drawings may bring the gT-and prizes.
