Senator Fisher Passes Away Senator Janies C. Fisher, 81, passed away at 2 o’clock this after noon (Thursday) at his home on Maple street following an illness of several years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2.30 o’clock at the First Baptist church with the following ministers officiating: Dr. E. E. Bomar, Rev. L. J. Keels, Rev. C. P. Burnett, Rev. L. R. Akers, Jr. Other arrangements will be announced later. The deceased is survived by the following sons and daughters, Mrs. Julia Brock, Mrs. B. E. Samples, R. E. Fisher, Edward Fisher and Jim Fisher of Tryon, Mrs. M. M. Melvin of Raleigh and Mrs. L. G. McElhenny of Spartanburg. Senator Fisher was one of the most influential political men in the state and had held almost ev ery office in the county. He was state senator from Polk county in 1911 and at the time of his death was chairman of the Tryon Town ship Democratic Executive Com mittee. He was formerly mayor of Tryon, Deputy, U. S. Marshall, County Commissioner, and a leader in political councils throughout this section. He came to Tryon fifty years ago and operated a store where the A&P is now located. He was a pioneer in helping to build Tryon and his death brings deep sorrow to friends throughout the state. Hendersonville amd Stearns high schools will play a double-header basketball game on Thursday (to night) at 7 o’clock at the Colum bus gymnasium, between the boys and girls of both cities.
