Maneger Nessmith of Tryon’s
Theatre wants a reader on “Har
mony Lane” now showing. Says it
is based on the life of Stephen C.
Foster, author of “Swannee River,”
“Old Black Joe” and many other
old familiar songs.
Another filler is Suggested by a
prominent woman horseback rider
who reports that asutoists often
frighten horses by suddenly Wow
ing horns within a few feet of the
horses. This is dangerous and
may cost the life of horse and rider.
A little more thoughtfulness.
Missildine’s Pharmacy has been
shipping merchandise to Africa.,
Canada and other far away places,

Tv>ik County News I noticed a bully
story in the farm section where J.
Alvin Wilson reoorts the donation
of $30 from a Tryon Rotarian to
be used in aiding farmers in the
county to purchase purebred bulls
and improve our stock of dairy
cattle.
An article in today’s Charlotte
Observer reports that Mae West
has some chairs upholstered with
Cloth of Gold. Just wondered if it
mee.nt the Tryon product.

Trade Street Helps
‘Key Know’ Party,
At Library Tonight
The Ways and Means committee
of the Lanier club is the “key
know” committee of the club. They
have to “know” the ways and
means to find the “key” to unlock
the doors to the hearts and purses
of many good people and provide
funds with which to operate the
Lanier library. They "kpow that a
key to the situation is to provide a
goo'd time and lots of fun for their
victims and to make it worthwhile.
They have already found ways atnd
means to offer 140 prizes for the
winners at the party tonight.
There’ll be lots of fun, for each
nickel game will bring somebody
a valuable prize worth many times
more. Tryon merchants donating
prizes are Jackson’s Grocery Store,
Jackson & Jackson, A&P, Dixie,
Ballenger’s, McNeely’s, Mel-Mar
Products, Inc., Betsy Bird, Blue
Ridge Weavers, Missildine’s Phar
macy, Mountain Industries, Slack’s

Lobby.
The admission fee is 25 cents
and covers refreshments. It will
take some nickels to play the Keno
boards so bring along a few extra
ones arnd enjoy the fun at the li
i brary tonight at 8 o’clock.
