MARCH 3, 1879 Polk Veterans to Get $112,000.00 The bonus bill which Congress yesterday sent to President Roose velt will result in a vast shower of soending in the 18 counties of Western North Carolina, in the cpinicn of most World War vets. According to the Veterans ad ministration 63,926 North Carolina veterans will get $34,622,162. In the 18 counties the total amount to be distributed will be $4,300,186 of which $112,539 will go to Polk, county. Basketball Tonight In what promises to be another exciting game, the Tryon high school teams will meet Fletcher high, former Henderson county champions. All the games this year have been thrilling from start to finish with the final scores but a few points apart. The games will begin at 7: SO with the girls playing first. Fletcher will bring a tall rangy group of players with plenty of experience. Referee, Eargle (Newberry). Umpire, Edwards (Columbus). WESLEY BROTHERHOOD The Wesley Brotherhood will meet tonight at 7 o’clock in the dining room of the Methodist church. The Rev. L. J. Keels will be the principal speaker. On the Air Joe E.
