C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 Hunting Dates Hunting dates for the Riding and Hunt club for the rest of the week are as follows: on Wednes day, leave kennels at 2 p. m. and meet at Horse creek. On Saturday, leave kennels at 10 a. m. and meet at “Many Levels”—Lefty Flynn, secretary. Mrs. Schiele Honored Mi's. R. M. Schiele, wife of Scout Executive Schiele of the Piedmont, district and herself a dyed-in-the-wool Boy Scout—odd as that may seem—is powdering her nose in place and out of place these days. And. since she’s the busiest and the least vain of all women, her friends just couldn’t understand the change in her until they learned that she’d just been given a swell new compact by the Ameriqan Legion Auxiliary in recognition of her fine work in Americanism. The compact is complete with the auxiliary insig nia, and nobody could blame Mrs. Shiele for flourishing it about. A special meeting was arranged Wednesday in her honor, with high-ups in the organization pres ent—Mrs. C. P. Andrews, of Char lotte, and Mrs. L. P. Frans, of Hickory. Incidentally, Mr. and Mrs. Schiele have been bounding about all week like Mexican jumping beans, moving Boy Scout head quarters from West JMain avenue to the first floor of the Masonic Temple. It’s going to be a grand, roomy place for Scout work, and Mr. Schiele will have the luxury of a private office.—Charlotte Ob server of Sunday. CONCERT DATE SET FOR MAR 10 The Spartanburg Male Chorus which was scheduled to give a con cert in Tryon Tuesday night will come here on March 10th instead. The concert was postponed on ac account of the parking grounds being in such bad condition due to the heavy xains. Basketball Saluda and Columbus boys and girls basketball teams will play at Saluda on Tuesday night begin ning at 7:30 in what promises to be one of the most L-xciting con tests of the season. headlines Floods and ice cause hundreds of families to leave their homes in Kentucky and Indiana as the Ohio river threatens lowland com munities. Russian newspapers see danger of another World war as Japan and Russia fuss over boundary. One killed and 50 injured in train wreck between Chicago and Cincinnati. Col. Henry L. Roosevelt, assist ant secretary of the Navy died Saturday night. Two successful flignts of rocket planes were made Sunday at Green wood Lake, N. Y. Flood and snow take toll of ten deaths in Pacific coast states.
