O., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 Noted Hound Judge For Tryon Show Manager C. W. Ballenger of the Tryon Hound Show which will be held on April 15, the morning of the Horse Show, received a tele gram Monday from Alex Parrish of Berea, Ky., considered one of the best judges of hounds in the United States. The Tryon Hound Show is the largest of its kind in the South. Drama Fortnightly For Tonight Only The Palmetto Players of Spar tanburg, under the auspices of the Drama Fortnightly, will present “Dangerous Corner” tonight at 8 o’clock at the Parish House. The play is being directed by Miss Hazel Abbott, and a cast of male characters., including Spar tanburg and Tryon residents, will take the male roles, while other roles will be taken by Converse students. The cast includes: Miss Annelle Donkle as Maude Mockridge, a novelist; Dixie Lyon as Freda Chatfield, Robert’s wife; Rosa Hendrix as Olwen Peel, secretary to the publishers; Mary Smedes Poyner as Betty Whitehouse, Gor don’s wife; Frank Moore as Charles Stanton, one of the pub lishers; Joe Hamilton as Gorden Whitehouse, F r e d a’s brother; ChalmersH. Armstrong as Robert Chatfield, head of the publishing firm. Mrs. Newell to Speak At The Lanier Club Mrs. W. A Newell, wife of the Rev. W. A. Newell, and Superin tendent of the Social Relations de partment of the Woman’s Council cf the Southern Methodist church, will address the Lanier club on Thursday afternoon at its regular meeting. Her subject, will be “As pects of Race Relations in the South.” Before her marriage Mrs. Newell was a professor in Chicago University. Major Bernard Sharp, who was scheduled to speak will be unabe to do so on account of illness. I Basketball Results Tryon and Green Creek split a double-header in basketball last night, the girls losing 23 to 10, the boys winning 17-14. The boys’ game was a thrilling affair from start to finish with first one team and then the other in the lead. Both teams guarded exceptionally well and the floor work and pass work was excellent. Blackwell, Brock and Green stood out for Tryon while Calvert and Hines were the stars of the Green Creek team. Tryon will play Co lumbus here on Friday night for its next home game.
