Northern visitors, Mere on account of the “beautiful Scenery and delightful climate,” are both interested and indignant, and are inclined to view the in cidents as evidence of general Southern lawlessness and persecu tion of the colored people. if recurrences of abuse are not prevented there will soon be a clash that will give Tryon some undesirable publicity. Miss Holden Injured The following clipping from Saturday’s New York Sun will be cf interest to Miss Holden’s many friends in Tryon: “A hit-and-run taxi driver struck and seriously injured Miss Euphenia Holden, 58 year’s old, \f the New Weston Hotel, 34 East ^Fiftieth street, last night as she was crossing Fiftieth street, near Madison avenue. Miss Holden was removed to the New York Hospital, for the Ruptured and Crippled.” Fishing News All fishing in Polk county will be closed from April 15 to June 10 except for trout.
