C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 To Exhibit Paintings Of Birds on April 3 Through the generosity of Miss Alice E. Ball, a most delightful treat is being offered to Tryon visitors and residents. Under the k auspices of the Garden club, about seventy original water-color paint ings of birds by Robert Bruce Horsfall, will be on exhibition the afternoon of April 3rd, at the home of Mrs. M. B. Flynn in Gillette Woods. Tea will be served from 4-6 o’clock. A silver offer ing will be taken for the benefit of Pearson’s Falls. This remarkable collection of paintings is owned by Miss Ball, don? for her as illustrations for her charming books on birds. Many are familiar with “A Year With the Birds,” a book written in verse for children. Miss Ball is the author of “Bird Biographies,” also. A new edition of this book for adults is being brought out under the title of “Our American Song Birds.” Mr. Horsfall’s work is well [fcjcncwn. His most important con tributions are the backgrounds of the Habitat Groups in the Museum of Natural History of New York, which are worthy of a special visit to that city to see. None in the world are finer than this museum collection.
