Banks Close Monday The Tryon Bank & Trust Co., and the Mutual Bank of Landrum will be closed all day Monday in observance of the Confederate States Memorial Day. Miss Converse Mrs. Lydia. Strong has received the news of the death of her cousin, Miss Mary Converse, of Cleveland, O. Miss Converse had been ill for several months and her death was not unexpected. She was a former resident of Tryon and a member of the Congregational church. Democrats Meet The Tryon Township Democrat? will meet this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Town fiaU for the purpose of electing a Township chairman and secretary, and dele gates to the county meeting to be held Saturday, May 16th, in Co lumbus. All Democrats are invited to attend the meeting this after noon.'
