MARCH 3, 1879 Tryon Democrats Tryon Township Democrats met jon Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock ft the Town hall with Carroll P. Rogers as acting chairman and W. S. Green as acting secretary. The following precinct committee was elected: George E. Bell, Mrs. F. P. Bacon, Harrison Bridgeman, Wayne W. Creasman and Seth M. Yining. The precinct committee elected as officers, George E. Bell, chairman; Mrs. F. P. Bacon, vice chairman; W. W. Creasman, secre tary. Delegates to the County con vention which meets next Saturday at Columbus in the Courthouse at 11 o’clock were elected as follows: Elect C. F. Rogers, W. S. Green, George E. Bell, W. W. Creasman, F. P. Bacon, G. H. Bridgeman, Seth M. Vining, Rufus Gosnell, B.L.Ballen ger, C. J. Lynch, R. H. Brady, C. H. Helms, R. S. Jackson, G H. Holmes, Mrs G. H. Holmes, George Cathey, Mrs. George A. Cathey, 'Miss Mae Irene Flentye, Mrs. B. E. Samples, Jim Fisher, Chas. Gosnell, Frail Durham, W. C. Ward, Dr. E. E. Missildine, John Fisher, Walter Arledge, Jim Ed ney, W. R. Mehaffey, R. A. Leon ard, George Arthur, H. T. Camp. Resolutions of respect were pass ed for the late Senator J. C. Fisher who led the Tryon Democrats for so many years. C. R. Rogers, Geo. E. Bell and Seth M. Vining were appointed to draw up the resolu tions. PLANT LESPEDEZA. AND MOREPEDEZA. The BULLETIN—$1.50 A Year Tryon Defeats Sayles Bleachery 15 to 3 A 15 hit attack on two Sayles oitchers led by E. Fisher and Jim Fisher, each with a home run and a triple, netted Tryon its second victory of the season Saturday af ternoon when Tryon defeated the Sayles team 15 to 3. The batteries were composed of Rice, Brown and Creighton for Sayles; Harding and Capps for Tryon. Donald Wing Wins In Dancing Contest Of interest to Tryon friends is the news that Donald Wing was the winner of the Herald & Ex aminer Dancing contest held at the Chicago Stadium on May 9th. He was awarded the championship in the finals for his eccentric solo dancing. The prize is $100 in cash, a diamond medal, and a week’s en gagement at one of the largest Chicago theatres. Donald graduat ed from Tryon High with the class of 1931. He says that he will fill the theatre engagement if he can be excused from the “factory” (In ternational Harvester Co.) that long. Kiwanis Tuesday The Tryon Kiwanis club will meet on Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Ho tel Tryon with Dr. J. E. Derby in chareg of the program.
