Parley, -chairman of the Democrat ic National Committee. Dr. F. E. Townsend, author of the Townsend Old Age Pension plan, was irritated Tuesday when the House investigating committee questioned him regarding his knowledge of the movement. Governor Lehman of New York announces that he will not seek a third term. Leaders plan to draft him . D. Z. Newton of Shelby will speak at Columbus, Saturday af t.rnoon at 3:30 in the interest of Y /de Hoey’s candidacy for gover i nor of North Carolina. Miguel Gomez was inaugurated President of Mexico on Wednes day. Movie Made Today Of Daily Bulletin The Universal Newsreel camera man, Tye Sanders of Atlanta, Ga., was in Tryon today taking mov ing pictures of the world’s smallest daily newspaper—The Tryon Daily Bud tin. The pictures taken to day will be presented in the Uni versal reel, “Stranger Than Fic tion” which is composed of oddities from all over the world. Washington, May 20.—Arrange ments were completed here today whereby President Roosevelt will visit Charlotte between Septem ber 15 and 30, and be the chief speaker at the Green Pastures Democratic convention. Rotary to Discuss |Town Government Town Manager C. H. Helms will j be the chief speaker at the Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m., at Oak Hall hotel. Mr. Helms will conduct a question and answer program relating to the conduct ; of the Town’s government. Baseball Saturday Try on and Enka will play base ball Saturday afternoon at 4 o’e’ock at Harmon Field. Tryon has not lost a game this season in the Industrial League, but Enka has a very strong team and a close fight is expected.
