C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3,1879 Dr. John Preston To Open Office in Try on Dr. John Preston, son of the ^.te Mrs. Lois Preston, beloved Sryon school teacher, has returned Co his home town to begin his medi cal career. Dr. Preston is a graduate cf the Tryon high school, attended Davidson college, taught school several years, and was graduated from Temple University medical college. For the past two years he has served as interne in the Episcopal Hospital at Phila delphia, and comes to Tryon highly oualified for his work. He is the guest of Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Jer sey for a few days until he gets permanently located. Happy Birthdays We skipped Postmaster W. H. Stearns’ birthday lest Wednesday. It was also the birthday of the Jfete Senator J. C. Fisher. Monday is the birthday of Mayor E. E. Missildine and of Mrs. Lydia Strong. Mrs. Strong was 90 years old, and a number of friends gave her a surprise birthday party during the afternoon. Dick Burnett Manages Standard Service Station R. C. “Dick” Burnett, for many years manager of the Tryon Stand ard Esso Service Station and joint owner of the Supreme Service Station has again taken over the management of the Standard and has been operating it since May 30th.
