Garden Club Wednesday
The Tryon Garden club will hold
an important meeting on Wednes
day morning at 10:30 at the home
of Miss Mae Irene Flentye. This
is a special meeting to which all
members urged te attend.
Carrier Pigeons are
Released Here For
Rochester, N. Y.
Ely Buel of Tryon and Roches
ter, N. Y., who is now spending
the summer at Rochester, sent Dr.
J. E. Derby 16 carrier pigeons
this week and Dv. Derby released
them Friday morning. The
pigeons that make the trip back
home successfully will be sent to
Daytona Beach n~xt time. Mr.
Buel is a prominent pigeon fan
cier and enters a number of
pigeons in races. Some of his
best birds fly 100 miles an hour.
So far as this paper knows this
is the first time Tryon and Roch
ester have been linked by air.
Vote Till Sunset
The polls in the Democratic pri
mary today will be open all day
until sunset. All public spirited
Democrats should vote for the can
didate of their choice. The returns
of the primary will be given out
tonight over the radio station. No
actual figures can be given until
sunset when the counting begins
all over the state. Considerable
interest has been shown in the
candidacy for governor with Clyde
Hoey, R. H. McDonald, Sandy
Graham and John R. McRae in
the race.
REVENUE BILL PASSED
U. S. Senate Friday passed the
revenue bill and sent it to a con
ference of the House, then ad
journed for a week’s recess.
