Landon of Kansas was nominated for President on Thursday at the Republican con vention meeting in Cleveland. Pub lisher Frank Knox of Chicago is sh ted for vice-president. Landon ''as elected unanimously on the first ballot. W. N. C. Democrats Are At Raleigh Convention Raleigh, June 11. — Western North Carolina Democrats were gathering in Raleigh tonight for the biennial State Democratic con vention and Eleventh District meeting wfhich will be hekl to morrow. E. C. Green, Asheville; J. Q. Gilkey, Marion; J. E. S. Thorpe, Bryson City; J. T. Bailey, Canton and J. S. Massenburg, Tryon, are among the possibilities for selec tion as the Eleventh district’s two delegates to the National Democra tic convention. The disCict will elect two delegates and two alter nates at its meeting prior to the convention. AUDITING COUNTY BOOKS J. P. McCoy and T. M. Craw ford, accountants, are guests at Hotel Tryon while auditing the county books at Columbus court house. They expect to be in Tryon for about a month.
