Mrs. F. H. Snipes and daughters,
Misses Margaret Anne and Mar
tha Jane, of Knoxville, Tenn., are
visiting Mrs. Snipes’ mother, Mrs.
James Jackson.
Miss Nancy Rivers of Charlotte,
niece of Mrs. Harkness Smith of
Tryon, has been selected as a mem
ber of the Charlotte Swimming
team to compete at the A. A. U.
meeting in High Point.
Miss Martha Dicus and brother,
Mark Dicus, have returned to
Waynesville after a visit with their
grandmother, Mrs. Martha E.
Gibbs, at Mill Spring.
Mr, and Mrs. Fred Blanton and
daughters, Misses Mary Lillian,
Jane and Maude Sikes of Shelby,
are spending this week at their
home in Columbus.
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Scott are
guests at Hotel Tryon. Mr. Scott
is division manager of the Ameri
can Fruit Growers, Inc., a nation
wide marketing organization which
is now handling peaches from
North and South Carolina.
Columbus community is getting
deeply interested in the outcome of
the Miss Columbus contest which
is being conducted by the Outlook
club for the benefit of the County
Library. A certain amount of
money is given the book club every
time a customer makes a purchase
to vote for a favorite candidate.
The girl receiving the most votes
will be crowned on Friday evening
on the Court House lawn about
7:30.
Dr. and Mrs. Edwin Lindsey of
Chattanooga, Tenn., are Visiting
Mrs. Lindsey’s mother, Mrs. Henry
