Colored Woman Dead
Carrie Jackson, age about 60,
well-known colored woman of Try
on, died Wednesday morning.
Funeral services will be held some
time Sunday.
Chinese Program At
Rotary Club Friday
Eugene and Frank Turner, sons
of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Turner,
who have spent many years in
China, where Mr. Turner has been
in charge of Y. M. C. A. work, will
give a Chinese Show at the Rotary
club luncheon on Friday at 1 p.
m., at Lake Lanier Inn. Visitors
are welcome and Rotarians are
urged to bring guests, but they
must telephone the management at
Lake Lanier Inn that they are
bringing guests in order that
sufficient plates may be provided.
The luncheon will cost 75c per
plate. The program will be in
charge of E. Perry Manville.
Miss Evelyn Landis
Wins ‘Miss Columbus’
Title In Club Contest
The Outlook dub in Columbus
dosed its “Miss Columbus" contest
on Wednesday and the winner,
Miss Evelyn Landis, received 52,
000 votes. She will be crowned on
Friday evening at 6:30 on the
lawn of the County court house in
Columbus. Preceding the corona
tion service a big parade will be
held with everybody taking part.
Other features of the program will
be a history of Columbus read by
former Senator E. B. Cloud, a talk
on community spirit by Prof. J.
M. Andrews, special singing by the
Foster Head children, and group
singing by the audience, tap danc
ing by Miss Jane Blanton. A big
time is anticipated by the promo
ters of this entertainment which
hes already netted the club $70
which will be used for the County
Library at Columbus.
