C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3,1879 Ben Boone Passes • Ben Boone, 61, died this morn ing at St. Luke’s hospital at 3:15 after an illness of several days. ^He was brought to- the hospital on ^Tuesday for an appendix opera tion. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4:30 at the First Baptist church of Landrum with Dr. E. E. Bomar, Rev. C. B. Prince and Dr. J. S. Lyons offi ciating. The pallbearers will be J. G. Landrum, W. M. Lambright, A. B. Turner, Dr. R. H. Wilds, B. F. Thompson, John F. Cantrell. Mr. Boone was a native of Mill Spring, Polk county, and was a member of one of this section’s most promnient families and a descendant of Daniel Boone, the pioneer. He moved to St. Peters burg many years ago and built up large real estate holdings and was prominent in the business affairs of that city. For the past few years fcde had been spending some time Bre had been spending some time ~ with his sister, the late Mrs. T. F. Thorne, at Landrum, S. C., who died a few months ago. His closest relative is one sister, Mrs. ’bate, of Portland, Oregon, mother cf Henry Shankle of Tryon. He was never married. Methodist Picnic All the classes of the Tryon Methodist Sunday school will hold ■: picnic at Hermon Field on Thursday afternoon at 5 o’clock. Andrews - Christopher A wedding of interest to friends in the two Carolinas was solemn ized Tuesday afternoon, July 28th, at 4:30 at the home of the bride’s parents when Miss Mary Jane An drews became the bride of Mr. Perry Earle Christopher. The ceremony was performed by Rev. L. R. Akers in the living room before an improvised altar of mountain laurel, Queen Anne’s Lace and lighted tapers in the presence of the two immediate families. The wedding music was rendered by little Miss Evelyn Brown, cousin of the bride. The bridal couple entered together un attended. Mrs. Christopher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Andrews, of Saluda, and Bryson City, N. C., is a graduate of Greensboro col lege and has taught in the county schools, being a member of Tryon faculty for the past two years. Mr. Christopher, son, of Dr. and Mrs. R. G. Christopher, Landrum, S. C., received his education at Furman University and is employ ed at Shamrock Damask Mill in Landrum. Reunion Postponed The annual Jackson Family Re union held every summer in Polk county has been postponed until further notice. .
