Tryon Boys Club
Commencement
On Friday A. M.
Commencement Day for the
Tryon Boys club is Friday of this
week. Closing exercises will be
held at 11 o’clock which, like last
year, will last twenty minutes. At
that time the group which has
won the most points in the con
tests of skill, athletics, good be
haviour, good handicraft, will re
ceive the Shield which will be
hung with the photograph of the
boys in the club on the Bulletin
Board of the high school. The
names of the boys in the winning
groups are underscored in the
picture and also appear on the
back of the Shield. J. N. Jack
son, Sr., will award the Silver
Cup to the boy who is voted by
the boys and councillors and Dr.
Taylor as the most outstanding
boy of the club. Mr. Jackson
donates this cup and last year it
was won by Thurston Arledge.
Today, the boys v<tted for this
outstanding boy but the result of
the ballot will not be known until
it is announced at the Commence
ment Friday. After these
awards, the boys will have on
view their handicraft which they
made this year.
All parents of the boys and all
friends of the Tryon Boys club,
as well as members of Rotary and
Kiwanis, are invited to attend
these short exercises, positively
not lasting more than the prom
ised twenty minutes. Other boys
of the town are also invited.

Indian Chief Leaves
The Boy Scout Camp
Chief Blue Sky Eagle, instruc
tor of Indian Activities at the
Piedmont Boy Scout camp will
leave Thursday morning for
Gallup, New Mexico, to attend the
annual Indian intertribal ceremon
ies where 7,000 Indians will take
part in the festivities. Approxi
mately 50,000 to 75,000 Indians
and Whites will witness the affair
which attracts people from all
parts of the world.
On Wednesday evening at 8:15
Chief Blue Sky Eagle will direct
his last Indian play at the Boy
Scout camp. The play is entitled,
‘‘The Quest of the Evil One”, and
will include a cast of 15 Boy
Scouts dressed in colorful Indian
costumes. It will be the most
spectacular event of the season
and the public is cordially invited
to witness it. The entire program
will last about an hour.
Hunting Season
Doves: This is a split season,
September 1 to 30, and December
20 to January 31. This is Federal
Regulations.
Open season for squirrel, Sep
tember 15 to December 15.
No fur-bearing or game animals
shall be annoyed or disturbed dur
ing closed season, except rabbits
which may be chased by dogs or
taken with gums.
Foxes may be chased with dogs
but must not be taken from their
dens.
