C., MONDAY, SEPT. 28, 1936 Jonas in Columbus Where Are We Headed? is the subject of an address to be deliv ered in Columbus on Wednesday night at 7:30 by the Hon. Chas. A. Jonas, former congressman on the Republican ticket from the the Tenth District.. The Polk County Republican Executive' Committee is inviting the public to hear their speaker. Senator Josiah W. Bailey, rep resenting the Democrats, will de liver an address at the same place on Wednesday of the following week. B. T. Earle Funeral services for Baylis T. Earle, well known Spartanburg business man, will be held this af ternoon at 3 o’clock at the J. F. Floyd mortuary on North Church street. The rites will be conducted by the Rev. Marshall Mott and Dr. Henry Wade Dußose. Inter nment will follow in Oakwood cem- J/ etery. Nephews will act as pallbearers. Mr. Earle, who was 63 years of age, died suddenly at his home 248 Pine street, early Sunday morning. His death followed an operation from which he was believed to be recovering when he was stricken suddenly Sunday morning. He was a member of one of the oddest and best-known families in the county. He was born in 1873 in the Earleville community, near Landrum, the son of the late Oliver Perry Earle and Katherine Davis Earle. He was graduated from Furman university in 1894. For many years he was engaged —-Continued from rage 'Jne Auto Accidents Hari'ison Jackson, 23 and Her bert Blackwell, 18, are in St. Lukes hospital as the result of auto accidents on Sunday. Jack son was driving a Ford roadster which failed to make the sharp bend in the road about two miles North of Saluda. Blackwell was run over by motor vehicle a Hedged to have been driv en by William Hannon, colored, at Lynn. . Both men were carried to the hospital around seven o’clock and they are suffering from severe bruises and shocks, but no bones are broken, it is reported. Landrum P. T. A. Dr. J. L. Ford Morgan of the English class of Converse college will address the Landrum P. T. A. tonight at o’clock. Inmmediate ly after the business session a re ception will be held. Peattie, the noted author, and family consisting of his wife, and three sons, Malcolm, Mark, and Noel have arrived in Tryon for the season from Glen view, 111. and are occupying the George Wick estate. Malcolm and Mark will enter the Tryon Country Day school which opens on Oct. 1. Sewall at Kiwanis Dr. Chas. G. Sewall will be the chief speaker at the Tryon Kiwan is club on Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Hotel Tryon. K. A. Bowen will be in charge of the program.
