C., MONDAY, OCT. 5, 1936 A New Friend Lady Nancy Astor thrilled Try on Sunday evening at the Parish House when she made a confiden tial friendly talk to the largest gathering that ever assembled at the Parish hall. Every seat in the house was taken forty minutes be fore the time set. The stage was attractively decorated with flowers, and the flags of the United States, Great Britain and North Carolina. As informal as if she were talk ing to a group of friends in her living room she won the hearts of her audience immediately and kept her listeners entertained with friendly wit as she brought them in contact with international prob lems and other great personalities. She was a friendly, understanding fellow citizen urging the cultiva tion of a universal brotherhood of unselfishness that would help all peoples to work for their mu tual benefit. The thrilled audience responded with enthusiastic ap plause. Tryon and visiting friends enjoyed a rare treat for which the community is indebted to Lady Astor’s sister, Mrs. M. B. Flynn.
