Est. 1-31-28 No Skating in Streets The Bulletin wishes to call the attention of all parents to an ad vertisement of the Town of Try ~on in today’s Bulletin which no jfies the public that it is unlaw m\ for people to skate upon the public streets of the Town of Try on. The penalty for doing so is a $5 fine and the Town officers have been instructed to enforce the law. Football Results The fast stepping Tryon-Saluda team rang up its third victory of the season by defeating Boiling Springs last Saturday by the score of 27-0. The local team dem onstrated its passing ability and pass defence in running up the one sided score. On the opening play of tht game Staton, huge Sa luda back, intercepted a Boiling Springs pass and galloped for a touchdown aided by superb block ing. The entire team played a brand of football in spite of \ lay off due to rainy weather, jlatherly was easily the outstand ing defensive man in the line with his tackling. He was ably assisted by Parker, H. Shields, and Green. The backfield, composed of Staton. Blackwell, Jones and Fox worked well and hard. The next game on schedule will be the strong Hendersonville High school team. This game will be played at Harmon Field on Friday, October 23. KIWANIS IN COLUMBUS The Tryon Kiwanis club will meet on Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Co lumbus in the old Mercantile Co. building. J. A. Wilson, county agent in charge of program. TRYON, N. C., MONDAY, OCT. Miss Prince Leases Mimosa Hotel Miss Corinne Prince, former manager of Colburn Farms Inn, of Bemus Point on Lake Chatau qua, New York, has leased Mimosa Inn. Miss Tessa Kavanaugh will continue at Mimosa as office man ager and the Waverley Hesters will live in the Mimosa Cottage. Mss Prince will continue the policies of the former management rnd has retained the entire staff of old servants. Mimosa will be open the year around and special inducements and reasonable rates will be m?de the seasonal guests. Through her connections in New York and Orlando, Florida, where she has had a winter home. Miss Prince exoects to draw new patron age to Mimosa and to Tryon. Mr. and Mrs. Hester will assist Miss Pr’nce in her entertainment. Miss Prince is a sister of Hoyt Prince, well-known insurance man of Landrum. P.-T. A. Tonight All the men of the community are especilly invited to the P.-T. A. meeting tonight at the Tryon school auditorium at 8 o’clock to hear Prof. M. B. Wilson of Spar tanburg speak on the subject, “If Youth Be Not Golden.” LOWELL THOMAS NEWS Tryon’s Theatre has started showing the Movietone News again on Fridays and Saturdays. This news is received in Tryon one week from its release in New York and features Lowell Thomas and other good news announcers. 19, 1936
