C., THURSDAY, OCT. 22, 1936 They Traded A number of Bulletin readers have asked the editor how David Nevin, the movie actor, guest of .the M. B. Flynns, knew from J?whom to buy a second hand car. Well, it was this way: Mr. Nevin left Los Angeles by plane on Sat urday night; arrived in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday noon. When he found that Nashville, Tenn., was not close to Tryon and that he would have to wait three hours before another plane was due he asked the taxi driver who brought him from the airport if he knew of anyone wanting to sell a sec ond-hand car. The taxi driver carried him to a man who was in church and he bought from the man an old Oldsmobile which was paiked in front of the church. He took the man’s overcoat out of the car, put it on the ground and sped on to Tryon, reaching here late Sunday night. From California to Tryon over the week-end! Mr. A Nevin Is enjoying a two week’s V visit. Friends here are trying to get for the* local theatre some of the pictures m which Mr. Nevin has been playing. Democrats to Meet There will be a Democratic meet ing in Missildine’s Hall at 8 o’clock this evening, October 22. All Democrats, both ladies and gentlemen, are urged to be present as there are many important mat ters to be discussed. Geo. E. Bell, Township Chairman. Tryon Precinct Republicans Meet There will be a meeting of the Tryon precinct Republicans on Friday evening, October 23, at 8 o’clock in the office of Attorney J. Lee Lavendar in Tryon. All Re publicans cordially invited. Ed Newman, Chairman, Executive Committee. From Australia P. H. Wilson of Tasmania, an island of the Commonwealth of Australia, arrived in Tryon Wed nesday night and is a guest at Hotel Tryon for a few days. He leaves Tryon Sunday headed for England to attend the coronation ceremonies of King Edward. From California L. G. Harkness Smith received a letter Wednesday from Richard C. Wolfe, owner of the Freight Boat Travel Bureau of Los An geles, Calif., who wrote, “Thank you for your letter of October 12. with the ‘smallest daily newspaper in the world’ enclosed. We all found the little paper and the idea of such a tiny paper very inter esting.” Son Arrives A son was born about 1:15 this morning at St. Luke’s hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor of Mill Spring, Route 2.
