Est. 1-31-28 TRYON. N. C., SATURDAY, NOV. 28, 1936 Polk County Red Cross Goes Over Top Rev. Charles G. Sewall, chair man of the Polk County Red Cross Roll Call announced this morning that the county had gone over the top in its Roll Call drive for mem berships between Armistice Day and Thanksgivin. A total of 356 people joined the organization and cash donations of $433.26 were re ceived for the Red Cross work. Mr. Sewall stated that the com mittee was very grateful to all contributors and to those assisted in any way in making this Roll , Call drive the most successful in J the history of the county. New Orleans Minister To Be at Tryon Baptist Rev. J. G. Watson, Jr., of New Orleans, La., and grandson of Mrs. S. E. Watson of Tryon, will preach at the Tryon First Baotist church on Sundav morning at 11 o’clock. He will return Sunday evening to the Mississippi Baptist college where he is an assistant professor, and theological student. Kiwanis Meets Tuesday The Tryon Kiwanis club will meet on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon. SEWALL AT ROTARY A very interesting talk on U. S.- South American Relations was given at the Rotary club, Friday noon at Oak Hall hotel, by Dr. Chas. G. Sewall. His speech was published in this week’s Polk County News.
