Landrum, has been chosen by the faculty of Coker college as one of five students from the Junior and Senior classes to be included in the volume “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” The selection was made for individual rating in char acter, scholarship, leadership in all forms of student and extra-curri cular activities and possibilities for future usefulness to business and society. } Miss Betty Shelnutt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Shelnutt, a student at Breneau Academy, Gainesville, Ga., was among a group of Breneau students to be entertained by the Gainesville Ro tary club recently. Miss Dorothy Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melbourne Smith, and who was pledged earlier in the j year to the Tri-Delta Soroity at W Florida State Woman’s College at Tallahassee, was tapped for the Cotillion club last Saturday night at the Cotillion club’s Thanksgiv ing dance. THE WOMEN’S AUXILIARY The Woman’s Auxiliary of the Church of the Holy Cross will meet on Monday afternoon, Janu ary 7th, at 3:30 o’clock in the Parish House, with Mrs. Gray, Mrs. Doubleday and Miss Avant as hostesses. Members are asked to bring current missionary news items. Nurses* Home On the grounds of St. Luke’s hospital there will soon be erected a Nurses’ Home, the gift of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Kimberly. This new building is to be a memorial to Mrs. Kimberly’s mother and it will be catldd The Gertrude Holbrook Hardin Memorial. This separate residence for the nurses at St. Luke’s hospital will meet a need that has long been recognized by the trustees. Large Crowd Hears Major Sharp Speak A large crowd heard the inter esting and educational address given by Major Bernard Sharp at the Lanier club on Thursday after noon at the library. With a map on the wall Major Sharp illustrat ed and talked of the General Situation of Europe. The meeting was presided over by the president, Mrs. Harkness Smith, who welcomed new members into the club; announced a series of teas to be given, beginning on December 30th; also announced a money donation for children’s books given by Mrs. Samuel Bingham. Following the program the meet ing was adjourned to have tea in the Holden Reading Room with Mrs. Fred McDonald and Miss Laura Peasley pouring tea and Mrs. J. N. Jackson, Mrs. H. H. Parmelee and Mrs. F. W. Sprague as hostesses.
