TRYON MEN ARE
HURT IN WRECK
Three men were admitted to the
partanburg General hospital early
yesterday morning as the results of
a series of highway accidents near
Greer involving three automobiles
and a heavy transport truck.
One of the men, Waverly Wal
ker of near Greer, remained in the
hospital last night, suffering with
severe cuts and lacerations about
the face and head. The other two
men, Oren Gorden and Fred Plum
lee, both of Tryon, N. C., were dis
charged from the hospital yester
day afternoon. Both suffered cuts
and bruises.
200 Colored Children
To Get Xmas Gifts
Mrs. Dudley Smith stated today
that the names of 200 colored
children had been secured from the
Negro schools and churches of Try
on and that each child would be
given a present on Christmas Eve
when the Christmas Tree program
is eld at Garrison Chapel Baptist
church- Suitable prizes for all the
ages are being arranged so that
a large boy will( not get a little
girl’s present. The names of the
children will be read at the Christ
mas tree and it is important that
all colored children make plans tp
be there.
Mrs. Smith states that the com
mittee appreciates the splendid co
operation that has been given by
those sending in checks and other
donations, and that she will be
glad to receive checks from any
person she has failed to see.
Change In Train
Schedule Here
Southern Railway Agent
T. G. Miller states that the morn
ing and afternoon trains coming
into Tryon have been changed.
Train No. 9 which formerly arr
ived here at 9:22 arrives now at
11:14. There is no change in the
noon train which will continue to
arrive at 12:37 from Asheville.
Both afternoon trains, No. 10 from
Asheville and No. 27 from Spart
anburg have been changed to meet
in Tryon at 4:37 p. m. The change
in No.* 10 was made in order to
give more time to make train No.
38 going North from Spartanburg.

ounces that all mail going through
the local office to make the new
train schedule must be deposited as
follows; for train No. 9 going to
Asheville at 10:45; train No. 28,
going to Spartanburg, no change,
12:05 as formerly; trains No. 10
and No. 27 to Spartanburg and
Asheville the closing hour is 3:50
p. m. Trains No. 10 and 28 carry
airmail making connection with
planes from Spartanburg.
BAPTIST WOMAN’S MEET
SOCIAL IS A FEATURE OF
The Women’s Missionary society
of the First Baptist church will
meet on Tuesday afternoon at 3
o’clock instead of 3:30 at the
home of Mrs. Lloyd Bolinger on
Gcdshaw Hill. A special offering
for the Lottie Moon Christmas
offering will be taken. The meet
ing will be marked by a social
feature. All members are urged
to be present.
