Est. 1-31-28 TRYON. N. C., SATURDAY, DEC. 12, 1936 Derby at Rotary Dr. J. E. Derby, head of the Young Men’s Association, deliver ed an inspiring talk at the Tryon Rotary club on Friday and told *of the purpose of the Young Jj Men’s club which was recently or ganized. Seventeen Rotarians join ed the new organization. A more complete account of the club will be published in a special section of The Bulletin on Tuesday, December 22. Ordination Service At First Baptist The Sunday morning service at the First Baptist church will be an ordination service for attorney J. T. Arledge, a recent deacon elect. Dr. E. E. Bomar of Land rum will preach the ordination sermon. The public is cordially invited. v The Epsicopalians honored their new rector and wife with a recep \ tion Friday evening at the Parish House. All the ditizens of the community were invited. The guests were met at the door by Mrs. H. H. Parmelee and Miss Katharine Hamilton. In the re ception line were Rev. and Mrs. C. P. Burnett, Rev. and Mrs. John A. Pinckney. Bishop and Mrs. R. E. Gribbin, Bishop F. H. Touret, Rev. and Mrs. Rolla Dyer, Dr. and Mrs. George Farrand Taylor. The Parish Hall was appropriately decorated for the occasion. The women of the church served re freshments and Mrs. D. S. Blois and Miss Mary Carpenter poured. Mr. and Mrs. Pinckney came to the Church of the Holy Cross from Allendale, S. C. At the Qlijurcijes ; PRESBYTERIAN—Tryon, Sun day school 10 a. m. Preaching service 11 a. m. Subject, “A Life of Faith”. Christian Endeavor 5 p. m. Columbus, preaching ser vice 7:30 p. m. Subject, “Our Standard of Living” Rev. D. M. McGeachy, Minister. CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS—II a. m., at Lanier Library. Subject, “God the Preserver of Man.” CATHOLIC—St. John’s church. Holy Mass Sunday morning at 8 o’clock. Father Florian, Celebrant. FIRST BAPTIST lO a. m. Bible school. 11 a. m., morning worship. Special Ordination Ser vice. Sermon by Dr. E. E. Bomar. Rev. L. J. Keels, Pastor. LYNN BAPTIST—IO a. m., Bible school. 7:30 p. m., evening sermon, subject, “The Rich Young Ruler”. Prayer service Thursday evening at 7:30. Rev. L. J. Keels. Pastor CONGREGATIONAL— Erskine Memorial.
