TRYON, Nt C.., MONDAY, DEC. 28, 1936 ADAMS - JERVEY Mrs. Hortense Hutchinson an nounced the engagement of her daughter, Frances Salisbury Adams to Allen Jones Jervey, jr. at a Christmas night party prior to the St. Agnes Guild Dance. The party was held for twenty friends and l’elativea at the home of the bride elect’s mother on Melrose Ave. The house was beautifully decorated with holly, mistletoe and red can dles. In making the announcement Mrs. Hutchinson gave a toast to the young people and sandwiches were served which were outlined with holly leaves with the names of Frances and Allen written in the center. Among the out of town guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Inglesby,Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina. Martha On Air Tryon friends were delighted to hear the voice of Martha Lightner (Mrs. Daniel Boone) on the Chase and Sanborne NBC program from Hollywood Sunday night in a short play, “The Show Girl” in a part played by Kay Francis. Mrs. Boone stated that she was born at Detroit, but was reared in Tryon, N.C. and that she liked Tryon bet ter. The play was well presented over the air and local people have cause to be proud of Mrs. Boone’s work. Mrs. Anne Bosworth Greene has as her guests, Samuel Hopkins Adams, the writer, and Mrs. Adams, who are here from Auburn. N. Y. for a few days visit at Mrs. Green’s Gillette Woods home. G. L. Kelley spent Christmas with his parents, at Oxford, Ala.
