Cowan of Cleveland, Ohio, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Costa at Hotel Tryon. Mr. Cowan is the owner • a number of fine horses over \) country at races now includ ing Little Gypsy, Pay Man, Battle field, Elssas, Foot Loose, Bamra, Sammy’s Pride, Provident, Colonel Labold. Mr. Cowan ia also the owner of Boone Companion, a horse which won the Miami $30,000 handicap in 1926, and Cotlogomor, a horse bred by Ed mund Rothchild at Paris, France, which won the $50,000 prize at New Orleans in March. At Kiwanis Today A number of guests were pres ent at the Kiwanis meeting today neon at Hotel Tryon, including Senator F. P. Bacon of Tryon, W. H. Bangs of the Duke Co., Hendersonville, and Attorney Redwine of Monroe, N. C., all of whom made short talks. President Charles J. Lynch made his farewell talk and thanked the members for their co-operation the past year, and turned the gavel over to the incoming president K. A. Bowen, who made a very ap propriate extemporaneous accep tance speech. Secretary Seth M. Vining gave a brief summary of the year’s work and chairman Carroll P.
