P. Bacon, Polk, introduced a bill in the senate today to exempt Polk county from the provisions of the absentee ballot law insofar as it applies to county officers. His measure is patterned after similiar legislation adopted in 1935 for Haywood county and in 1931 for Buncombe county. Use of the absentee ballot would be permit ted in primaries and general elec tions for national, state and legis lative offices, but would be pro hibited for all county offices. The bill was referred to the sen ate committee on election laws headed by Senator Kelly E. Ben nett of Swain county. Senator Ba con is a member of this commit tee. —Asheville Citizen. Boy Scout Court of Honor on Monday There will be a Boy Scout Court of Honor on Monday night, Jan. 18, in the school building.
