Bird, 55, passed away this morning at St. Lukes hospital following an illness of several weeks. Besides her hus band,Mrs. Bird is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maynard Layman of Decatur, Ala., and a grand daughter. Also three sisters, Mrs. W.L. Veeck of Hinsdale, 111., Miss Alberta DeForest, Chicago, 111. MissGentrude DeForest, Los Ang eles, Calif., and two brothers, Dr. D.F. DeForest of South Bend, Ind. and S.T. DeForest of Booneville, Ind. Funeral services will be held in Tryon at the Congregat ional church on Wednesday after noon at 3 oclock with Dr. C. Ar thur Lincoln officiating. Interment in Tryon cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Dr. A.J. Jervey, Maj. Bernard Sharp, Fred E.Swann, C.J. Lynch, Dr. J.E. Derby. Nelson Jackson,Jr. Honorary pallbearers, J.N.Jack son, W.H. C., TUESDAY, JA*N. “Edwards Hylar” Miss Clara Edwards announces the engagement of her sister, Miss Alice Edwards, to Mr. Myron Hylar, of Deerwood, Minn., the wedding to take place in February Miss Edwards is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.B.Edward of Columbus Township. She re ceived her education at Stearns high school, Weaver college, and Appalachian State,and for some several years has been a teacher in the Mill Spring school. Mr. Hylar received his education -at Deer wood, served 3 years in the Navy, and for the past six years has been engaged in the oil business.
