C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3.1579 fflrgon JBatlg (The Smallest Daily Newspaper In The World) Vol. 10, Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N.C., MONDAY FEB. 22 1937 New Radio Installed In Morris Cabin Saluda, Feb. 20. —Since William Morris’ return to his mountain cove? home near here from New York City where he told a nation wide radio audience of his longvigil in guarding the century-old fire in his home, things are not as lone some as they used to be. Last week, the manufacturers of Philco rodios had a modern radio installed in Mr. Morris’ cabin and he now able to contact the outside world. The postman, who formerly passed by the Morris cabin, now stops each day with scores of let ters from all sections of the United States written by persons who heard Mr. Morris on the radio several weeks ago. Relatives, long forgotten by Mr. Morris, have communicated with him and want to keep the fire burning when he dies. The Morris cabin and yard are thronged with \ persons who visit the place to see the fire. Asheville Citizen Landrum Man Is Injured In Accident John Price of Landrum, was being treated at the General hos pital last night for injuries suf fered in an automobile accident late yesterday afternoon near Tu capau. State Highway Patrolman Gregg King, who investigated, said a car in which Pr*ice was riding with a companion collided with a car oc cuoied by W. A. Copeland. The officer said Price’s compan — Continued on Pack Page Pinkney Wolfe Landrum, Feb. 20ji > —Pinkney Wolfe, 69, carpenter and bricklay er of Landrum, died suddenly at his home Saturday morning. Mr. Wolfe, a member of the Lan drum Wesleyan Methodist church, is survived by his wife, the former Miss Elizabeth Mills; two sons, Isaac Wolfe, Shelby, N.C.; Herbert Wolfe, Landrum; five daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Seay, Inman; Miss Leggie Wolfe, Landrum; Mrs. Eunice Rhodes, and Mrs. Edith Lindsey, Lynn, N. C.; Mrs. Pauline Burrell, Landrum, and two broth ers, George Wolfe, Landrum, and Noah Wolfe, Spartanburg. Funeral services were held at the Landrum Wesleyan Methodist church at 3 o’clock Sunday after noon with the Rev. R. G. Cudd. assisted by the Rev. J. N. Dunley, officiating. Burial in the Landrum cemetery Active pallbearers were; William Tucker, Dave Harris, Norman Stepp|, John Sanders, Clarence Bolt, and James Brady. The honoraiy escort was com posed of Robert Vehhon, M. Daniel, T. F. Thorne, W. S. Calvert, Mar cus Nash and Belton Blackwell. The following served as flower girls; Eloise Seay, Betty Burrell, Lottie Wright, Vernie Greenway and Connie Epington. Spartanburg Herald. Parker—Hayes Miss Mary Lee Parker, daughter of Mrs John Parker and R. B. Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hayes were married on Saturday, Feburary 13th in Spartanburg by Dew rt v D. Foster.
