C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3,1879 (Ermnt Jlmta Bulletin (The Smallest Daily Newspaper In The World) Vol. 10, Est. 1-31-28 Scout Meetings The Tryon Boy Scouts will meet tonight at the school gymnasium with Scoutmaster W. A. Schillet ter in charge. The Lynn Scout Troop commit tee will meet tonight at 8 o’clock with G. I. Henderson. Meetings The St. Luke’s Hospital Asso caition executive committee met on Tuesday night at the home of Miss Mae Irene Flentye. The Woman’s Missionary society of the First Baptist church will hold an all-day study class at the home of Mrs. L. J. Keel& on Fri day beginning at 10:30 a. m. Mrs. Bostic will be the chief sneaker. The Junior Music club will meet on Thursday at 4 o’clock at Miss Cora Lipscomb’s studio. The study will be about Chopin. Basketball By Bertha Blackwell Trycn Athletic girls and boys met the Inman Mills girls arid boys Tuesday night on the Inman court. The girls tied with a score of 18-18. Miss Lillian Ballard, one of Tryon’s star player’s is suffering a fractured elbow as a result of s fall while playing. The boys lost by a score of 29-25. There will be a double-header on the local court Thursday night at 7:30. The Tryon Athletic girls will play the Columbus school girls and the boys will play the Landrum town boy's. Both games promise to be interesting TRYON, N. C., WEDNESDAY, FEB. 24, 1p37 On Trade Street The Ellison Plumbing & Heat ing office in the lobby of the theatre building is beng remodel ed and turned into a bathroom fixture display with “tile” walls, etc., and signs have been erected announcing the location of the show room. The Postal Telegraph - Cable office which advertised in the Bul letin an extension of its service hours from 7 a. m. to 10 p. m., has just put down some pretty new floor covering. Spring is here and Manager G. E. Bell says it is time to dress up. A new ‘financially” looking bronze sign marks the entrance to the Tryon Federal Savings & Loan office near the outer stair way at the Hester building. This organization is one of the fastest glowing in the community and is offering an opportunity for local people to invest their savings at a good rate of interest with gov ernment protection. At the same time it makes it possible for people to own their own homes and in the meantime furnish employment for a lot of other people. The store room next to Slack’s Pharmacy is being repainted and remodeled for Peeler’s Jewelry store which will move soon from the Hester building. Mr. Peeler’s business has grown by degrees every year since he has been in Tryon and he now owns a home here. Cowan’s Sandwich Shop which recently moved to Maple street un. der the A&P has erected a large sign to swing over the corner at Trade street. Advertisements in the Bulletin ... Continued on Back Page
