FROM LOUISVILLE Dr. Mrs. Cathey: The generous donation for re lief of the flood sufferers in Louis ville by your Chapter, is greatly appreciated. Coming as it did during the early days when needs were great, it helped to care for many thousansd who suffered as result of the flood. The Amreican Red Cross is now making every effort to assist the flood sufferers in returning to nor mal living conditions as quickly as possible. Very sincerely yours, R. F. We are very pleased to advise you that we have more than an ample supply of clothing to take care of all needs. It may interest you to know that we are very rapidiy getting into the rehabilitation work and find that there are less calls for used clothing at the present time. TRYON, N, C., WED., MARCH 3, 1937 Kiwanis Club Gives to Scouts The Tryon Kiwanis club Tues day noon voted to give $25 to the Piedmont Boy Scout Council for the extension of Boy Scout work in the county. R. H. Brady, sec retary of the Polk county district was in charge of the program. Short talks on Scout work were made by Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln, chairman of 1 the Court of Honor, C. J. Lynch, chairman of Civic Service, and Seth M. Vining, county chairman; Rev. D. M. Mc- Geachy, chah*man of Scout litera ture was also present. C. J. Lynch reported progress being made in negotiating for the beau tification of the highway approach es to Tryon through co-operation with the State Higway Depart ment. Past President Robert St. John of the Walton, N. Y., Kiwanis club gave a short talk on Walton, N. Y., and the Walton Kiwanis club. Basketball Results In a double-header last night at Columbus, the Tryon high teams split with Stearns high, the girls losing 36 to 8 while the Tryon boys won handily 40 to 24. The boys turned in a fine game during the second half, both teams being nervous and missing goals during the first. The game start ed slowly with Columbus taking the lead but soon being headed by Tryon.
