Scoutmaster W. A. Schilktter has been coaching the boys with the assistance of expert counselors. McDowell Introduces Another Madison Bill According to the Asheville Citi zen this morning Representative T. J. McDowell of Polk county has introduced in the legislature “upon request” of the Democratic organ j ization of Madison county, a bill to fix the salary of the county audi tor of Madison county at SI,BOO a year, and tax manager at $2,000 a year. Madison county has a duly elected representative but he is a Republican, and the Democrats don’t want him to represent. It is rumored that certain Democratic leaders not only believe in the use of absentee ballots but also in ab sentee representatives, in spite oi the fact that this country was founded in opposition to the “tax ation without representation” poli cy of absentee rulers in England. Old time Democrats believed in states rights and local self givern ment. In addition to their duly elected representative (Republi can), Madison county Democrats-, have a lobbyist in W. K. McLean, former senator from Polk county who now lives in Madison county. Mr. McLean has been a regular attendant at the legislature. Basketball Tonight In the biggest game of the sea son Tryon high will close its schedule tonight at the local gym. Columbus will furnish the oppo sition.
