Mrs. Plum ly was 28 years old. are er’ husband, two IMughters, 7 and 9, her mother, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Refuge Baptist church in Hen derson county, conducted by the Rev. A. T. Howard and Rev. Phil lips. Court of Honor The Polk County District Boy Scout Court of Honor will be held tonight at the Tryon School build ing at 7:30. Scout Executive R. M. Schiele will be ,uresent. McDowell Opposed Meas ures Sponsored By Senator Raleigh, March 13,-Represeeta tive T. J. McDowell, of Polk, has introduced only three bills-two for Madison county and one state-wide, but he has blocked three measures in the house sought by his colleague Senator F. P. Bacon, of Polk. The house calendar committee, at the request of Representative Mc- Dowell, killed Senator Bacon’s bills to provide'for the election of the tax collector for Polk county, and to reduce the term of office of the Polk county board of commissions. County officials came to Raleigh last week ahd requested the rep resentative to kill them. The first bill, SB-284, would pro vide for the election in 1938 and biennially thereafter of a tax col lector at a salary of $1,500. The second measure —SB 285 would teAninate the office of the present commissioners on the first Monday in December, 1938, and provide for the election of three commissioners in the general elec tion in 1938; the candidate receiv ing the highest number of votes for four years and the others for two years each.
