C., WEDNESDAY, MAR. 17, 1937 Pinckney Will Speak Tonight The Rev. John A. Pinckney, new rector of Holy Cross Episcopal church at Tryon, will speak at the church of the Advent here at 7:30 o’clock this evening, the Rev. W. H. K. Pendleton, rector, an nounced last night. Mr. Pinckney will be the sixth and probably,the last of the guest speakers, it was said. Mr. Pinckney recently succeeded Dr. Burnett as rector of the Tryon church, Dr. Burnett having retired from active service. The new Tryon rector has been appointed head of the young peo ple’s junior summer conference at Kanuga. Episcopal center near Hendersonville. * He is said to have made many friends among the young people of the Carolinas. Mr. and Mrs. Pinckney will be the guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Pendleton while in the city—Spar tanburg Herald. Madrid, March 16.—Fifty gov ernment planes, in a mass offensive against insurgent held Brihuega, dropped 760 bombs in a daring aerial battle today, Madrid de fense officials announced.
