Curtis Shehan, Sr., age 60, were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the resi- I dence on Howard Gap road. In terment in Tryon cemetery. Rev. L. J. Keels, pastor of the First Baptist church officiated. Besides his widow, the deceased is sur vived by one son, D. C. Shehan, Jr., of Tryon. Mr. Shehan died Monday afternoon at 2:30 follow ing an illness of several weeks. Governor Lauds Scout Training Governor Hoey has made the following enlorsement of the Scout ing program: “The Boy Scouts of America stand-alone in the service rendered the youth of this land. Too much emphasis cannot be placed upon \the training of young boys, the in 'stilling of high ideals, the main taining of standards of honor and the cultivation of a spirit of help fulness among each other. I salute this splendid organization and bespeak for all those who labor in it and with it a full measure of happiness in the accomplishment of worthwhile work.” Jean West Showing An advertisement in today’s Bulletin announces a showing of ladies sport, afternoon and eve ning clothes at Oak Hall hotel on Thursday, March 25th, all day by Jean West of Asheville. TRYON, N. C., TUESDAY, MARCH 23, 1937 Picnic on March 30th The annual Riding & Hunt club picnic will be held on Tuesday, March 30th, at Rocky Spur for all members, their guests, and visitors of Tryon. Horseback riders will leave Oak Hall at 10 a. m. Horace Newman will sei-ve as guide. Riders will return home by beautiful Mel rose Falls. Motorists will leave railroad station at 11:45. The club will furnish steaks* coffee and fixings. In order that we may provide enough food, etc., please notify C. J. Lynch as to how many will be in your party. Feed for horses, blankets and heavy things will be taken by truck from Oak Hall. Sunnydale Thursday A double truck spread was printed today for tomorrow’s Try on Daily Bulletin announcing the opening of the Sunnydale Log Cabin on Thursday, March 25th, beginning at sp. m. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Shelnutt are eager to have all their friends and the general public to visit the cabin and enjoy a complimentary drink from the new fountain just installed. Work men have been busy getting the place and grounds ready for the opening event. According to a report from the sheriff’s office there will be a member of the Highway Patrol at the courthouse Wednesday morn ing for the purpose of investigat ing and clearing if possible, titles to automobiles that will not pass the licensing department of Bureau of Motor vehicles.
