C., WED., MARCH 24, 1937 Sunnydale Log Cabin Opens Five Events Thursday Jean West of the Ladies Shop, Asheville, will have a showing of Sports, Afternoon and Evening clothes all day at Oak Hall hotel. The opening of Sunnydale Log Cabin at 5 p. m. The Wesley Brotherhood meeting at 7 p. m., at the Methodist church. Election of officers and other im portant busniess. Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor in “Camille at Tryon’s Theatre for last showing here, beginning at 7:45 p. m. Boxing exhibition at 8:30 at Young Men’s Association club. Dance at Pine Crest OPine Crest Inn will give a ance Friday evening, March 26th, 9:30 to 12.30 for the visit ing boarding school, high school and college students as well as for the young people of the danc ing set in the community. On ac count of the shortness of time no invitations have been issued, and this form of notice is the only one to be given. A1 Dunn’s orchestra has been secured to furnish the music. All visiting young people are especially invited. Cooking School Thursday The second cooking school for the colored people will be put on Thursday evening at 7:30 by the Duke Power Co., at their kitchen. Ah colored cooks are especially invited. Prizes. Attractive New Home for Dances, Parties, Teas or the Individual Seeking Refreshment. The beautiful log cabin, Sunny dale, surrounded by spacious grounds just off the highway at the southern entrance to Tryon, will be formally opened to the public on Thursday afternoon, March 25th. The building designed by John R. Ferguson, local archi tect, and built by J. S. Kell, is one of the most attractive of its kind in this section, and is destined to be a mecca for young and old who want to entertain and be en tertained. A modem sodai fountain, and electrically equipped kitiehen en able Sunnydale to provide prompt service to the motorist who wants a light lunch in a hurry. The spacious ball room, attractive tables, linen and silver service offer ideal facilities for formal dances, dinners and parties. Sunnydale, owned by H. L. Shelnutt of Tryon. will be under the management of Mrs. Blanche Smith, a graduate of Orangeburg College, and an able and pleasing hostess who has operated tea rooms of her own in some of the larger cities of the South and North, and guests are assured of appetizing menus and a hospitable reception ft all times.
