■NTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THI fpBTOFWCR AT TRYON, N. C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH o.loiJ ®ht (Emm Baiiu bulletin (The Smallest Daily Newspaper In The World) ___ Vol. 10, Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N. C., SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 1937 A ‘Banjo On My Knee’ For the T. Y. M. A. Some of you are no doubt won- r \ring why the Young Men’s Asso ciation is putting on a benefit show so soon after the drive for funds. The answer to this question is simple. Equipment for such a re creational center is expensive. Our drive netted us something over SSOO with which we have pur chased the most necessary equip ment at very reasonable prices. Most of it we have bought second hand and reconditioned, much of it has been donated, and by care ful buying and planning we stretched our funds to cover the absolutely necessary expenditures. Our present quarters are exact ly what we need for our purpose but our dependable membership has not yet built up to the point where the dues will take care of the operating expenses. Unless )e receipts from this, benefit show •e sufficient to help us along for the next few months, we may have to move to other quarters. “Banjo On My Knee” at Tryon’s Theatre will be presented at popu lar prices, 15c and 25< Sunday afternoon, April 11th. Evening tickets are being sold at Missil-. dine’s and the hotels and by a number of friends at $1 to those who wish to see our organization maintain its present quarters. Roy Shelly, manager of Hotel Tryon, has planted three banana trees on the hotel grounds. This is his second winter in the ther mal belt and he feels safe in ad vertising now “Yes we have no bananas.” j At % (Ct|urrl[Cß J FIRST BAPTIST No preach ing service. Sunday school at 10 a. m. Rev.
