Holmes: It is true that an ordinance was passed by the Town Commissioners in 1927 setting the salary of the Mayor of the Town of Tryon at SSO a month. If you will examine the records of Town of Tryon you will find that four years ago by mutual con sent of the Mayor and the Com missioners this amount was reduced to $25 a month. Deduct from this COURT COSTS AND THE NET AMOUNT PAID OUT OF THE TREASURY IS APPROXIMATE LY sls a month. Is this an excess ive amount for the responsibility of an office representing an invest ment of over a million and one half dollars? Wat6r rates may seem high but debts accumulated in previous ad ministrations have to be paid. Tryon is noted for meeting all its obligations, never having missed meeting a payment when due. If you will examine the Treasu er’s books of the Town of Tryon you will find the Water Department has always been kept separate from the General Fund. For defi nite information of matters con eernin. the Town consult the Town Manager who is in position to give you accurate information and extremely anxious to do so. Tax Payer. Meet Tonight The Business Women’s Circle of the First Baptist church will meet tonight at 8 o’clock with Mrs. Archie Butler.
