The nine months term is im portant if parents want their chil dren to have as good an oppor. tunity to get an education and be as well .prepared as children in other similiar communities. It is important if they want new citi zens to come here to help build the community; for many people go to a community because of good schools. Nine months is the shortest time in which it is pos sible to do a standard year of school work for average students. Textbooks, college entrance re quirements and teacher training are all based upon nine months Jterm. A shorter period hurts! the i^« c chool pupil. The polls will be open Tuesday morning at sunrise and close at sunset. Tryon Scouts, Will Meet On Wednesday Scoutmaster W. A. Schilletter announces that the Tryon Boy Scout Troop, No. 1, will meet on Wednesday night at 7:30, and all boys planning to attend camp next w-'ek are urged to be present for a final check-up. Airliner lost since December 15th found in Utah. Two searching narties locate wreckage at .same time. Several bodies dug from snow. Scout Counselors Are Announced Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln, chairman of the Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor has announced the appointment of counselors to give advice and encouragement to Boy Scouts seeking advancement in the various branches of useful knowl edge offered to boyis in Scouting. Other counselors will be named as soon as interested men are found who can spare a few moments of -their time in assisting the boys. Volunteers are needed all over the county for Scoutmasters and as sistants. Anyone interested, please write the district vice-president, Steth M. Vining, Tryon, N. C. The Tryon Scouts are greatly indebted to Mrs. Walter Jones and to Mrs. Harold Doubleday and to teachers and mothers for their assistance in helping the boys in the past, but an effort is being made to keep Scouting as a man’s job. And any man interested in boys will do himself and his community a lot *>f good by uniting with the Scout movement now. The counselors! so far are listed as follows: Agriculture—J. A. Wilson.
