Tryon-Saluda Dist. Vote 9 Mo. School Tryon and Saluda townships voted Tuesday by a big majority to have a nine months school term, for the Tryon-Saluda school dis trict which includes the schools of Tryon, Saluda and Lynn. Out of 409 registered to vote in Tryon township 296 voted in favor of the nine months term to 22 against it. In Saluda township out of 156 registered, 1-05 voted for the meas ure to 18 against it. A number of people failed to vote and many were out-of-town. An encouraging spirit for education was the fact that so many people who own prop erty and have no children voted for the measure. Miss Rebecca Hoskins Is Appointed In Polk Raleigh, June 8. —Mrs. W. T. Bost, State commissioner of pub lic welfare, announced today Miss Rebecca Hoskins had been named superintendent of public welfare for Polk county. Miss Hoskins is the first county superintendent to be named by the county commis sioners and county welfare board, in joint meeting, she said. Rev. D. M. McGeachy addresed the Tryon Kiwanis club on Tues day on “Our Limitations.” The club will meet next Tuesday at 6:30 at Mill Spring, To Whom It May Concern — Weaverbarton Dairy announces that having attained its desired maximum number of milk-cows, it is now able to offer for sale yearly a limited number of heifer calves from cows tested for production. He attended his class reunion of 1927 at the University of North Caro lina yesterday. Mr. Earl Tisdale entertained with a dance on Monday evening at Sunnydale in honor of Miss Mary Morgan, whose marriage to Mr. William Rockhill will take place tonight at 8 o’clock at the Tryon Methodist church.
