Charlie Lynch gave an interesting talk on past Kiwanis history Tues day and Editor Jim Fain of Hen. deiyonville Times-News, who was present, recalled the long ride from Hendersonville to Tryon the night the local club received its charter. The new road was not built then and travel was via Chimney Rock over dirt roads . . . L. F. Buchanan says there will be plenty of good fish this evening at the Wesley Brotherhood Fish Fry, and the public is invited to come out and buy their fish and take it home if they can’t stay . . . Some people ask occasionally if the Bulletin goes out in the country. Well, a man living at the foot of the mountain lost an auto tag a few days ago. He ad vertised it in the Bulletin and Burley Durham of Landrum found it down in South Carolina . . . The’Bulletin travels long distances through the interest of many friends . . . Nelson Jackson, Jr.* Vice-presi dent of the Piedmont Boy Scout council and a member of the Executive Board of Region Six, stated Wednesday afternoon that Regional Boy* Scout Executive W. A. Dobson had appointed Scout master W. A. Sfehilletter of Tryon to be a member of the Executive Staff at Washington, D. C., during the National Boy Scout Jamboree. June 30-July 9. The Scouts and leaders in this area will leave Gas tonia on Saturday evening, June 26, and will leave Washington on July 9. Tryon will be well-rep. relented in Washington. Scout Executive R. M. Schiele will be there for a few' days, Scoutmaster Schilletter, Eagle Scout Nelson Jackson, 111., William Elfrink, William Derby, James Jackson and Seth Vining, Jr. : will go from Try on Troop No. 1. They will be joined here by Kerri son Juniper and Floyd Springer of Ormand Beach, Fla., making a total of nine neaole going from Tryon to the Jamboree.
