Edgar C. Rowe of the Tournament Committee has an nounced the following schedule for the annual Fourth of July* tourna ment: July 3rd—Qualifying round, 18 holes. Eight players qualify in each flight. July 4th —Quarter final round, 18 holes. July sth—Morning, semi-final 'round, 18 holes. July sth, morning, semi-final consolation round, 18 holes. July 5th —Afternoon, final round, 18 holes. July sth, afternoon, consolation round, 18 holes. Suitable prizes for winners in . each flight and also for winners in flights. Entry fee, including green fees, $3.00 for three days. Luncheon, tea and dinner serv ed in the club house at moderate prices. All greens Metropolitan Bent Grass. Closes Monday The United States Post Office at Tryon consisting of Postmaster W. H. Stearns, G. Isham Hender son, Miss Clara Edwards, George Dewey Cooksey and Bryson Ed. wards, will observe the 4th of July on Monday 1 , the sth. TRYON, H C., TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 1937 Large Assembly Os Masons Here The Jeff L. Nelson Lodge of Polk county was the scene of a big Masonic gathering Monday night when the Third Degree was conferred on Douglas S. Blois of Tryon. It was a big event for the local lodge. Visiting Masons were present from Asheville, Statesville, Hendersonville, Land rum and Inman. Included in those present were Past Grand Master Roy E. Ebbs of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, A. F. & A. M., Asheville; Junior Grand Warden J. E. Shipman of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, Hendersonville, and Grand Commander Howard Etheridge of the Grand Command ery„ Asheville. The Third Degree was conferred on Mason Blois by the great team of past masters, assisted by the Low Twelve club of Asheville. Past Master E. B. Oawthray presided over the Third Degree service. Mason Blois first joined the Mason ic lodge in 1917. He took! the First Degree at Jacksonville, Fla., was called away to the war and did not settle back in Jacksonville. He was in various towns and did not take up the work again until re cently after 20 years. Following the meeting refresh ments were served and a substan tial offering taken for the Oxford Orphanage. T. G. Miller is Wor. shipful Master of the local lodge. France goes off gold standard. Finance chief acts quickly to save franc. Bonnet closes bourse against money speculators.
