Vol, 10, Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N, C., THURSADY, JULY 8. 1937 Muncie Thompson Sandy Plains, July 7. —Mfuncie Thompson, 47, well-known planter of the Sandy Plains section of Polk county, died early this morn ing:, fol’owing a lingering illness. Surviving are his wife, four sons, Otho, Otis, Vernon and Ernest Thompson; three daughters. Misses Bernice and Ruth Thompson, all at home, and Mrs. J. E. Petitt of Landrum; two brothers, Martin and Charlie Thomnson; one sis. ter, Miss Delia Thompson: • his mother, Mrs. L. C. Thompson, Rutherfordton, Route 1. Funeral services were conducted at 11 o’clock Thursday morning at the New Hope Methodist church near Chesnee with the Rev. R. D. Byrd, former pastor; the Rev. C. E. Crowder and the Rev. Mr. Epley officiating. Active pallbearers were Charlie Stockton, Glenn Lawter, Finch Bowyer, Troy Durham. Luther Scoggins and Robert Morris. Honorary pallbearers were Geo. Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, John Greenway, E. K. Kimbrell, Arthur Whitesides and Norman Brannon. Dance Friday Tenny Freck’s orchestra will furnish the music for a dance at Sunnydale Log Cabin Friday eve ning. The pdtronage of Tryon dancers is needed to keep Sunny, dale open during the summer for dancing. Rotary Friday The Rotary club will meet at 1 p. m., Friday at Lake Lanier Inn. H. L. Archie Paul Butler is back at the Ballenger Co., and Buck “Airplane” Moore is with Rector’s . . . The Blind commission at Raleigh esti- I mates Po'k county will have to pay $360 as its part of the aid for the b’ind under the social se curity program. The state will furnish an equal amount . . . Mae West now admits that she was married to Frank Wallace in April 1911. ... A packedi theatre turned out Wednesday night to see “Dodsworth” in which David Niven had a part . . .
