C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3.1879 ®|E ®rgtm JBatly bulletin (The Smallest Daily Newspaper In The World) Vol. 10, Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, H C., WED., JULY, 21, 1937 Bound To Court On Assault Charge Rufus Gosnell was tried in magistrate’s court Tuesday on charges growing l out of an affray in Which Henry Shankle, Sr., was painfully injured recently, and was ordered held for the next term of Superior Court. “Mystery” Solved The Tattling mystery of the fall ing .stones inside a surburban resi dence Monday night, was appar ently solved when the stones gave way to shoe horns, etc., at a later hour.* Members of the sheriff’s force and of the town police were called to investigate the shower of .stones inside the house, and working from the fact that, sones, to fall, must first go up, and to go up, stones usually must have some assistance. This assistance was soon found to be coming from sources other than supernatural, as was first suspect ed, and the case is marked closed. “Fresh” Corn J. B. MjcKaig, of Lynn, present ed us with an unusually odd ear of corn. This ear of corn was growing in the tassel of the stalk; and the sprouts or tassel itself, has grains of corn scattered about. The ear has no shuck, and appears ready for cooking. It was raised by Mr. McKaig. Two negroes taken from cell in Florida and lynched. Another court bill compromise, acceptable to foes, predicted. ‘Curb’ Reporter The curb reported is taking a holiday today as the guest of Mrs. Parsons at M'ontreat, N. C. Never been there. One of the most interesting jobs is that of Agnes McLeod, Polk county home demon stration agent, who spoke at the Kiwanis club in Columbus Tuesday and told of the wonderful work the women and young people of the county are doing in self develop ment. 900 women in the county belong to the women’s clubs which are enriching farm home life in many ways. It is fascinating to h~ar of the progress made . . . 45,000 women in the state belong to these dbbs. Ruth Current, the state director, who succeeded Dr. Jane MjcKimmon, was a classmate of the writer’s wife at Meredith . . .
