Pace has never played here before and a large crowd is ex pected to turn out to see if he can deliver the goods he has been reported to have. Big Apple Tonight “The Big Apple,” the new popu lar dance now going strong in many summer resorts will be danced tonight at Sunnydale Log Cabin with Tenny Freck’s orches tra furnishing the music. Sunny dale dances are attended each week hy many new dancers from out of-town. TRYON, H C„ FRIDAY, JULY 23. 1937 SOME JOB A number of people have asked the editor of the Bulletin from time to time this question, “What does Miss Rebecca Hoskins do ” Miss Hoskins is the County Super intendent of public welfare, and Mrs. W. T. Bost, the State Com missioner, through Mrs. W. B. Aycock, Division Director, has giv en the following outline of Mass Hoskins’ duties: “The county superintendent of public welfare shall be chief school attendance officer of the county, and shall have other duties and powers as follows: “To have, under control of the cdunty commissioners, the care and supervision of the poor, and to ad minister the poor funds. “To act as agent of the State Board in relation to any work to be done by the State Board within the countv. “To look after and keep up with the condition of persons discharg ed from hospitals for the insane and from other state institutions. “To have oversight of prisoner, in the county on parole from peni tentiaries. reformatories, and all parole prisoners in the county. “To have oversight of depen dent and delinquent children, and especially those on parole or pro batmn. “To promote wholesome recrea tion in the county and to enforce such laws as regulate commercial amusement. “To have oversight over depen dent children placed in the county by the state board. “To assist the state board in Continued on back page
