ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928. AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON. N. C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3,1879 Wc[t ®rymt Jlatlti (The Smallest Daily Newspaper In The World) Vol. 10, Est. 1-31-28 Waynesville Defeats Tryon-Saluda 18 to 0 The Tryon-Saluda football team fell before the strong' Waynesville team 10 to 0. This game was the hardest one the locals will face this season due! to the strength of the opponents. The Tryon-Saluda team presented a stellar! defensive line which was pierced only once for six points. On one occasion, the Waynesville team was held for four downs on the one yard line, with Tryon taking the ball over. The two other tallies scored were by means of two thirty-yard pass os over the heads of the secondary. No extra points were made. The locals made their best bid for a goal during the last quarter ad vancing the ball about eighty yards only to lose it on an intercepted pass. A few plays later, Waynes ville, attempting to pass in their own territory, had a pass inter cepted b;y Bill Fox, who scurried toward the goal line, only to be halted on the ten yard line when he slipped on the wet grass. Try on-Saluda advanced the ball to the four yard line, whei*e the game ended. The work of Heatherly and Green on defense was outstanding while Jones was the best offensive threat. The whole team showed de cided improvement over the last game and will develop an offen sive as the season gets older. Green punted about eight times getting off fast kicks averaging around thirty-five yards. Justice Hugo Black admited hav ing belonged to KKK, over radio address last night.
