Chairman C. Arthur Lincoln will preside. Scout Executive R. M. Schiele will present moving pic tures of the Boy Scout Jamboree held in Washington this summer. The public is cordially invited to attend this meeting and see what the young boys have been doing. Creasman-Stoudenmire A marriage of wide interest took place Sunday noon at Ihe Trvon Methodist church immediately fol lowing the church service when Miss Charlotte Eleanor Creasman became the bride of Mr. Connor Daniel Stoudenmire. The wedding ►ynusic was olayed by Mrs. Walter Jones and the double ring ceremony was performed by the pastor, the Rev. F. 0. Dryman. Following the wedding dinner at Hotel Tryon the young couple left for their honeymoon trip to Washing ton, D. C. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and MTs. W. W. Creasman. She is a graduate of Tryon High School and for the past several years has been a telegraph opera tor at Kingstree, S. C. The groom is the son of Mrs. D. F. Stoudenmire of Sumter, S. C. He was educated at Clemson college and the Chicago Embalming school is connected with the Continued on Back Page TRYON, N C„ MONDAY, OCT. 18, 1937 Navy Plane Makes A Forced Landing By ‘Johnson’ United States Navy Plane No. 5-T-10 out of Norfolk, Va., piloted by Lieut. G. Mi. Stewart, carrying A. M. Grimes, of the Norfolk Naval Training Station as pa~senger, was forced down on the Davenport fai’m near Columbus about 3:30 Sunday afternoon. The motor quit as the plane crossed over White Oak mountain and Grimes was ordered to “ba’l out” by Lieut. Stewart. Grimes jumped and his ’chute landed him over beyond Columbus on the Pack farm without injury. Lieut. Stewart was almost ready to jump when he noticed the smooth piece of bottom land on which he landed. The plane nosed over when it hit the freshly plowed field, damaging the propeller and smashing the tail assembly. Lieut. Stewart was bruised about the chest when the impact of the landing threw him against the front of the cockpit. He was brought to Tryon where he notified the Navy officials at Norfolk by telephone, an.j then with orders he returned to the vicinity of the crash to locate Grimes. The two flyers left under orders for Spartanburg, where they were instructed to wait for offi cials who were to fly there from Norfolk today to investigate and make arrangements for the removal of the plane.
